Flybe Changes Hand Luggage Allowance

Flybe changed their maximum hand luggage restrictions in April 2016 from 55x40x20cm to 55x35x20cm which is in line with the IATA Cabin OK recommendation.

We’ve heard that Flybe are rigorously enforcing their new restrictions, so its worth being clued up on their latest requirements to avoid being charged up to £50 per bag at the gate to put it in to the aircraft hold.

Flybe Hand Luggage Information

All Flybe customers travelling on Flybe operated services are entitled to carry:

  • one standard cabin bag measuring no more than 55 x 35 x 20cm including wheels and handles.
  • one additional item of under seat cabin baggage, such as a laptop or handbag.

With that in mind, here are a few great bags that fit Flybe’s new dimensions perfectly.

Cabin Max Marseille 55x35x20cm

APRIL_CM_MARESEILLE-1The Cabin Max Marseille is perfectly sized to fit within  Flybe’s new allowance, as the luggage sizer picture below shows.

The Marseille is a double decker bag that has a large top section – perfect for holding items that need to be accessed quickly. The large main compartment has a generous 38 litre capacity and benefits from rigid sides and a PU waterproof backing. It can also be held as a holdall via the handle on the front of the bag – ideal for carrying it up the aircraft steps.

Though it is the perfect size for Flybe, the Marseille’s compact dimensions also mean it is suitable for 26 other European airlines including all the main budget carriers like Easyjet and Ryanair. The 35cm width also means this is a great choice for Airfrance, KLM, Alitalia, Virgin Atlantic and Emitates who also favour a slightly narrower bag width.

At £29.95, it is also an absolute steal! For more information click http://tinyurl.com/jnkowcr

I AM MAX Metropolitan 55x35x20cm

APRIL_CM_METRO-1The Metropolitan is one of the only cabin-sized backpacks that has been specifically designed to meet the IATA 55x35x20 cabin recommendation that Flybe have adopted. It could be the perfect bag for you if you need to travel on Flybe (or Airfrance, KLM & Alitalia, which also have the narrow 35cm width requirement) and would like the freedom of wearing a backpack. Travellers with laptops can also rejoice at the internal padded laptop slot, as well as the large top pocket which is ideal for shoes. The Metropolitan also features an internal compression strap so you can compress your clothes without having lots of zip-obstructing straps on the exterior of the bag.
